About the position

Who We Are

At Flockjay, we believe that every member of the workforce deserves economic opportunity. We identify untapped talent, provide training for future-proof jobs, and get paid only when they get jobs. To start, we train and certify high-quality sales professionals online, and place them at the best tech companies. We then provide life-long coaching and support for our community.

We are here to empower upward mobility through education and access. Our goal is to create pathways into industries like tech for people from non-traditional and underrepresented backgrounds. We have an experienced team and an incredible network of support from industry leaders, advisors, and top-tier investors like Y Combinator.

Tomorrow’s companies will be defined by how they invest in people. Our team is small and growing – join us and make a meaningful impact. Let’s build a generational company together.

Who You Are

Does managing, teaching, coaching, and mentoring bring you joy? Are you excited to train the future leaders in tech sales, and become a thought leader yourself? Are you here for democratizing education and access to future-proof jobs? If you answered with a spirited “Yes!” to all the above, we’d love to have you join our flock!

As our Dean of Sales Talent, you’ll interact directly with our fellows and change lives. You will empower them to grow their skills, meaningfully increase their earnings potential, and support their transition into tech sales. In this role, you’ll develop and execute on our cutting-edge learning & accountability system, coach, manage, and mentor our fellows, and partner with our Partnerships team to create engaging and effective learning plans.

This position requires the special combination of teaching and tech sales expertise, coupled with that magical mix of interpersonal skills, operational focus, and creative vision. While you’ll need to be able to operate autonomously and with initiative, you’ll have the support of our team and report directly to our Head of Sales from our sunny SF office.

  • Develop cutting-edge content, processes, and systems to effectively deliver online and offline learning experiences
  • Prepare and administer regular online training classes, leading activities on sales strategies, sales software, and other relevant curricula
  • Continuously improve content and systems such as new coursework, assessment processes, presentations, and case studies using gamification, role-playing and job simulation
  • Regularly train, role play and coach/mentor our fellows, including gathering regular, systematized feedback to inform best practices and training needs
  • Proactively identify and develop scaling opportunities, and continually improve the class experience
  • Work directly with fellows by coaching and supporting them on a regular basis
  • Be the voice of our fellows internally so we can continue to build the right product to serve their needs
  • Identify opportunities to launch new programs & processes, and scale successful projects
  • Empower other Flockjay team members to succeed, and actively contribute to company-wide initiatives

What You’ll Bring:

  • Belief – you believe in what Flockjay is doing to democratize education & access
  • Prior success – you have at least 1 year of closing experience in a consultative sales role with a proven track record of success and/or experience as a sales trainer/instructor
  • Optimism & Energy – your energy and enthusiasm for our mission and our students are contagious
  • Grit – you’re willing to take initiative and work autonomously knowing you have the full support of the team
  • Organizational Skills – you’re able to juggle multiple initiatives with ease, and make sense of ambiguity
  • EQ + IQ – you’re able to quickly build relationships with others and empathize with their challenges or needs
  • Creativity – you’re innovative and think outside the box
  • Interpersonal excellence – you’re comfortable communicating via phone and video chat, presenting to groups of people and thinking quickly on your feet
  • Work Ethic – you understand the hustle of working at an early stage, high-growth startup and are motivated by the impact you make

Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging at Flockjay

We believe diversity is strength & difference is a teacher. We know we’ll do our best and most impactful work when we feel we’re represented and we belong. We strive to provide the support required to create a safe, positive environment.

We’re proud to actively recruit and hire talented people from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

We believe organizations must build diversity, inclusion, and belonging into their DNA. Those that do so will build better products, provide better services, and be positive forces in the world.

If you don’t think you meet all of the criteria above but still are interested in the job, please apply! Nobody checks every box, and we’re looking for someone excited to join the team. Tell us about why you feel you’re the right fit!
